About the Pittsburgh Threshold Choir

Founded in 2007, the Pittsburgh Threshold Choir honors an ancient tradition of women singing a cappella at the bedsides of people who are dying, ill, or experiencing a difficult life transition. We share the healing gift of our voices in private homes, hospitals, hospice facilities, or anywhere and any time when support through song is appropriate.

When invited, a pair or trio of women brings to a bedside the songs that are a farewell gesture, a healing balm, and a celebration and normalizing of the the natural role that illness and death play as part of the miracle of life.

Our repertoire is chosen to respond to the individual musical taste, spiritual or cultural orientation, and physical capacity of the client. Our singing might include chants, lullabies, popular music, spirituals or classical choral music.

There is no charge for this service; the singing is our gift. We are grateful for any donations toward our ongoing expenses.
